What does the Timeline software do?
Timeline Studio software is a data viewing tool, which will display part or all of the Events entered into its database in a timeline format. With advanced data searching and a large database capacity, the Timeline software can analysis large amounts of time base data and return results positioned accurately occurring to their place in time.
This displayed data can then be manipulated by means of time search, event positioning, colour coding, change of text Font, forming groups, and by embedding related events together. The results of different data searches can be saved as a View to be recalled at anytime. Labels, titles and a legend can be added in order to fully explain the timeline display.
Once a Timeline has been created and customised to give the best display it can be saved to be re-opened another time, saved as a picture to be displayed in a different program e.g a word document, or printed direct from the Timeline application. It is even possible to present information as a slideshow. How to Create a Timeline To create a new timeline the first stage is to enter data into the database, use the New Event button to add Events. Each Event on the timeline has it's own record within the database containing all details and images about that Event.
Not all fields within the New Event sections are required to create a timeline, only text in the 'Event Name' and a time within the 'Start' field are mandatory to create an event which can be displayed on the timeline.
To create a New Timeline · Select 'New' to create a new timeline. · As the Timeline application can work in a number of time units, select the template which most suits the timeline you wish to make; this will select the correct time units for your timeline. · Select 'New Event' from the Edit tab, to create Events on the timeline. Each Event must have at least a Name and a Start date. · Use the New Event button to create as many events as you require. · When the Events have been added, use the 'Show All' to display your timeline. The Show All button will display all your events. · With your timeline displayed you can start to personalise the display. To move Event use drag 'n' drop (you will not be able to event along the timeline axis).
For further display options see Views, Groups and Parent / Child events.
User Tip - try to complete Events as you create then by adding all the detail - name, descriptions, images, add to Group, add Links, and set page layout - it will save a lot of editing time.
